Thompson Submachine Gun

Used by German forces and members of resistance in series. In series these appear to be replicas of various sorts with metal shoulder stocks, pistol- and foregrips and other variations.

There is one episode, the Heavy Water episode, if memory serves me and sometimes it don't, where we see this American Tommy Gun slung over a German soldier's back.

Not necessarily a continuity error.  In the rear area, it was not uncommon for captured weapons of all countries to be used by either side.

I believe that this is a gaffe by the prop manager.  Insufficient numbers of Thompson Sub Guns  were seized to make it worth while to issue them and to also require stocks of the ammunition to be mfg, stocked, and distributed to those troops.  The Thompson was produced for issuance to the US military and lend lease to the brits in .45ACP.  Pre war some small numbers were sold to the Brits in 9mm Para  and Civilian production of the Thompson was also in 9mm para,  .38 Super, and .45 Remington-Thompson.
