Krag-Jørgensen rifle

Used as stand-in for the German Karabiner 98 that was common German issue before, during and after WWII.

Schultz's usual piece.  He sometimes handed it to the prisoner to hold while he did toe touches and the like.

Large amounts of the Krag-Jorgensen rifles and ammunition were seized from Norway when Germany invaded.  Those rifles were issued to third line troops such as would have been at Stalag 13.  The issuance of an additional weapon  chambering an additional cartridge would have increased the logistical nightmare that is a war time military supply system.  A precursor to this being done  would have to be a sufficient number of weapons to require  the ammunition to be manufactured as it would displace first line stock mfg resupply, so that it could be distributed in an area.  For this reason small quantities of captured weapons were not issued as standard armament.

Schultzey carrying the Krag is not a gaffe by the prop-manager as it has actual history behind it.
