Hello!!

Just joined the board and wanted to say hi to you all. I am a long time Hogans Heroes fan and I was a teenager during those years and watched the original showings of Hogans Heroes with much interest. It was not until later as I got older that I became an avid fan of the show and the characters portrayed in it. The show started me on a life long love of Military History and Military Technology. The recipes that Louis LeBeau prepared and talked about peeked my interest as a teenager and from the show and Louis's character I asked my maternal grandmother to teach me German and French cooking, her family came to the US from around the Kiel area in Germany, and my maternal grandfathers family, was from Luxoumberg. I can still remember her homemade sauerkraut and how good it tasted, quite unlike the awful commercial stuff sold today.

I have been watching the reruns of Hogans Heroes on TV Land and Universal HD and all the memories and the interest and joy that the show caused have come back to visit me.

Somewhere between the characters of Andrew Carter and Louis LeBeau is where I am and have been for most of my life. I am a Military Combat Vet, a father of three, still married to the same wonderful woman I met taking/teaching Martial Arts in College. I am an amateur chef and tend to specialize in the cooking from Japan, China, Thailand, Germany, Greece, Mexico, Argentina, and Italy.

I am 57 now and medically retired from Lockheed Martin where I was a Senior Staff Engineer on the F117 when I left in mid 2003. My wife and I lived in California (Ontario/Upland) most of our lives, and both were born there (military brats), we moved to the nice and quiet town of Las Vegas New Mexico in Dec of 2005 where we love it. I am a Gunsmith and a Blacksmith, and I fish and hunt in this outdoors paradise of Northern New Mexico.

I am the Fan Fic Admin (ChiTak)  on Keepthegateopen.net a Stargate Fan Site and would like to become involved on a Hogans Heroes fan site.

Happy to be here among other Hogans Heroes aficionados!!

Ciao,

Mike Spivey AKA Michel_LeBeau

Welcome Mike.  Seems you will fit right in.

Me?  I fall somewhere between Schultzie and Carter.  Mostly like Schultz.  I love food, kids (5 going on 6 grandkids) and playing Santa Claus at Christmas time.  I play at Bluegrass jams in the area.  I play guit tar and sing.  I look forward to it all week long.

Schultz was a toy maker and a kid at heart and loves his wife dearly, although she drives him nuts.  Sometimes I come up with these hair brained ideas.  Some pan out and some don't, kind of like Carter.

Hey... and Thanks for serving our country.  Something I didn't have to do.

I am a member of the Andy Griffith show forum, http://www.tagsrwc.com/cgi-bin/crumpbb/YaBB.pl  and a few others.  I like the minutae.  Seems I'm the only one here looking at HH with a magnifying monocle.

I'm the type of person who sees a 60 year old photo of family members who wants to know who everyone is, including the dog.

Gut tag!

My name is Delta AKA Tiger and I created this board.  I always loved HH but in recent years I come to admire their strong stories. People unfortunately have blown this show off thinking it was silly and surreal.  Actually, the shows mirrored real WWII events including the near assasination attempt on Hitler.

For the last 5 years I had been taking care of my Mom who had COPD.  we shared many wonderful hours watching HH.  Our favorite episodes are Sticky Wicket Newkirk (Carter was a GENIUS), Pass the Ammunition, and Hogan's Double Life.

I lost my Mom in November and I haven't watched the show since.  But maybe I can watch the show again.  Then last month, I lost my Dad to COPD and I have been in a self-exile.  The only thing that has helped me are my friends who have helped me so much.

I want to thank Michael for keeping this board alive and well while I've been gone. I hope to come back and post as much as I can.

Newkirk was my favorite Hero but I have to show love for Langensheidt (Jon Cedar passed away about a year ago) and Klink.
